Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo's journey as an entrepreneur and investor began long before he founded Arsari Group in 2006. Building on a strong family legacy of nation-building, Hashim has spent decades contributing to Indonesia's economic and social development through strategic investments, businesses across various industries, and philanthropic activities.
Hashim was educated in Europe and the United States, earning a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics from Pomona College in Claremont, California. He began his career in investment banking before deciding to build his own business and developed a broad portfolio spanning cement, petrochemicals, plantations, mining, banking, and international commodity trading under the Tirtamas Group banner.
Between 2000 and 2006, Hashim served as Chairman and President Director of Nations Energy, an international energy company operating in Kazakhstan. Under his leadership, the company experienced significant growth before he eventually divested his ownership. After selling Nations Energy, Hashim continued his involvement in the energy sector by founding Nations Petroleum, which managed several oil fields. He later sold these assets and reinvested the proceeds into Indonesia's renewable energy sector.
In 2006, Hashim returned to Indonesia to found Arsari Group with a vision of investing in projects that drive progress and prosperity for all. Today, as founder and president director, Hashim oversees a range of investments spanning agroforestry, plantations, digital infrastructure, renewable energy, energy and mining, trade, and aquaculture. With a focus on job creation and responsible business ethics, Arsari Group is committed to playing an active role in driving long-term sustainable growth across the Indonesian archipelago.
Beyond Arsari Group, Hashim and his wife, Anie Harjati, have dedicated the past four decades to various important social issues in Indonesia. Hashim is known for his contributions to preserving and promoting Indonesian cultural heritage, environmental protection, and endangered wildlife conservation.
